Richard is Research Director of P3 Research. He was appointed Managing Director in 2010 after serving as chairman of the board since 2005. In this role he grew P3 from two to seven sites between 2010-2023. Richard is also the former President of the New Zealand Association of Clinical Research.

He trained as a Medical Doctor through the University of Otago before spending time in the UK and USA undertaking specialist training and basic laboratory research. Throughout his career, Richard gained global recognition for his management of liver cancer and the surgical management of severe obesity. He undertook pivotal early work into the understanding of the link between the gut and insulin resistance.

Richard has a love of nature and often can be found mixing work with pleasure in the high country of New Zealand.
